Hello everyone.

As part of my fundraising efforts for the 30 hour famine, I am auctioning off an apron that I made just for this event.  The one-of-a-kind apron has cupcakes on the front and a light blue fabric on the back.  It is reversible with a pocket on each side.  Please visit the Molly’s Helping Hand facebook page.  You can view the pictures and place a bid if you would like.  I will be taking bids until 9 p.m. on Thursday, February 23rd.

Don’t forget there is still time to make a donation to our efforts!

My newest project is a fundraiser.  I am going to participate in the 30 hour famine.

Did you know that nearly 8,000 children under age 5 die every day because of hunger related causes.  That is one child every 10 seconds!  This is NOT okay and I can NOT stand by while children die from lack of food.  Can you imagine how it would feel to never know when you might have something to eat? Most people get crabby if they skip one meal - think about missing two or three or more.

I am not asking that you go without food so take a deep breath and keep reading.  I am doing this Famine with my youth group.  We are learning about global hunger and will complete our fast on February 24th & 25th.  For every $30 I raise, a child can be fed for a month.  My goal of $360 represents one year of help.  If you are still reading, I know that you have a heart!  If you are able to donate to my cause, please visit my personal 30 hour Famine fundraising page

Thank you in advance!

Molly stopped by the radio station this morning to drop off the donation from all of her activites this year.  She was able to hand over $500 to help Pat’s Kids!!  Pat Benton is finally on “vacation” this week.  Molly wasn’t able to talk to him but it is obvious that he is still working hard to bring Christmas to these kids.  He deserves a huge THANK YOU!!

Another “thank you” goes out to Perry Heights and West Terrace.  The candy cane sale was extremely successful.  Molly couldn’t have completed the project without the help of Student Council, Ms. DeVillez, and all of the students & teachers that purchased candy canes.

If anyone still wants to help Pat’s Kids, you can contact Molly or mail your donation to:

Molly will be starting a new project next week.  If anyone has any ideas for this year, please let her know.

Tomorrow my school will get to watch a movie at the end of the day to begin Christmas break! During this time, we will deliver the candy canes. I cannot wait to see everyone’s faces when they get their candy canes! Only time will tell what is going to happen.

Merry Christmas,

Molly.

Happy December everyone!

Today was great. My school’s student council helped SO much with the candy canes. We sold them all week during lunch. It was a huge success. We sold over 300 candy canes. We made more than $300 dollars. This is so great! It makes my heart pound with happiness! With the money we raised, multiple children will get Christmas presents.

I would just like to thank my school’s student council for all the help. With their effort this project was a major success.

You may have notice the Candy Cane Christmas signs hanging up in the hallways of Perry Heights.  Our student council has been working extremely hard to prepare for this event!  We will be selling candy canes during lunch for the next several days.  If you would like to send a candy cane to someone at school, stop by and fill out the message form.  This is a great way to thank a teacher or say hello to your friends!

I am excited to announce that West Terrace is also participating in a candy cane project this year.  Student Council will be taking orders from 4th & 5th graders during lunch.  The candy canes will be delivered next week.

Thank you to EVERYONE that is helping with these projects.  The proceeds will be donated to Pat’s Kids.  We are helping to bring happiness to children that don’t have much in their life.

Do you need a good cause to donate to this holiday season?  By donating to Pat’s Kids, you can help give presents to kids that otherwise do not have anything to open on Christmas.

Pat’s Kids is a totally non profit group set up to work through “The Poshard Foundation” to insure that sexually and physically abused children get a visit from Santa. EVERY penny of EVERY donation goes to the children.

I started donating to Pat’s Kids after hearing Pat Benton’s radio broadcast.  I know that I have been blessed with a great life and this is a great way of helping others that don’t have as much as I do.

If you would like to donate, you can send a check to :

Thanks for all of your help!!

The 5K race was a huge success!

There were over 1,700 runners/walkers and more than 80 volunteers.  Mom & I were straight down from the finish.  We cheered & told everyone that they were almost finished.

It was great to see so many people helping others.  I’m sure that the Goodwill Family Center was grateful for all of the support.

Happy early Thanksgiving!

Well I don’t know about you, but when I think of this holiday I think of thanks and giving. I have much to be thankful for and this makes me want to give more.

This year we are volunteering for the Evansville Goodwill Turkey Day 5K. Volunteers have already started filling packets for the runners. I wish I could have been there to help but I had to go to school and learn. Woohoo! So Thursday morning I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to help out at the race. I am not quite sure what my job will be but I am ready for whatever!

The Goodwill Family Center is an awesome place. They help many people that are in need of a place to stay.

Recently I took a trip to Houston, Texas!

That is where the 2011 Girl Scout National Convention was held. I learned a lot about leadership. There were so many girls with great leadership abilities and achievements that it made it a great experience.

During one session, ten girls were given the title of Young Women of Distinction. These girls were reconized for completing their Gold Awards. This award is the hightest honor a Girl Scout can earn. One of the girls was given this honor for doing a documentary on Holocaust survivors. She interviewed four survivors and it came to be a very powerful story. Another girl made all kinds of hats and gloves to give to homeless people in her community. She then partnered with the prison. The people in jail helped to make more warm clothing items. These are two of the ten remarkable young ladies, but if that’s what two of them did you  can imagine the other eight were just as remarkable.

I am really inspired!
