Hey. It’s Molly! As you may have noticed I have not been posting about the April project. Well, I have learned my lesson. And that lesson is that sometimes you bite off more than you can chew! And what that means is that I said I could do more than I was capibale of. So I did not get to do 10 hours of cleanup in April.

Saturday I attended a ceremony for a program called Kid’s With Heart. I won the grand prize. The grand prize was $500 to a charity of your choice, and $100 to spend at any store at the mall. I chose to donate my money to Pat’s Kids.  The other kids who won are doing some WONDERFUL things too. I was amazed at all the community work kids are doing!!!! So keep up the good work!!!!

This weekend I am hoping to get some hours for the April clean up project. I hope that other people are getting involved and cleaning up their community too. It’s hard to believe that the May project is almost here!!!!

Happy Earth Day!!

…………………………………………………………………..

I hope that you are able to use this beautiful day to get out & take care of the planet we live on.

Yesterday, I went to the All That Glitters ceremony in Herrin.  Girl Scouts from all over Southern Illinois were recognized for doing great things.

When listening to what the girls did to earn awards, I realized that there are a lot of people willing to help others.  It made me really proud to be a part of it.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the Girl Scouts that earned the awards!

I have to say THANKS to everyone who bought pencils or helped with the pencil fundraiser.  It was a great success!!  We sold 340 pencils!!  That will really help pay for the postage to send the stuff to Afghanistan.

We have been working very hard all weekend.  So far we have separated all of the pencils & tied the messages on with ribbons.  We still have to double check the envelopes to make sure we have the pencils going to the right classrooms.  It shouldn’t take more than a few more hours.

We will be making one more trip to pick up the donations of scarves, socks, hats, & gloves at school.  We will do that when we drop off the pencils on Earth Day.  I know that it will be hard work to box up all the stuff & then figure out the information that the post office needs but I can’t wait!  My step dad is going to help with the forms so it shouldn’t be too bad.

For two days, Molly has been collecting the orders for pencils at school.  Without giving away too much…she is doing great!

She will post details soon.

The hardest part about volunteering is picking who you want to help.   We found an article on the Southern Illinoisan’s website that talks about ways you can help.  The article is titled “1,000 ‘Dawgs’ sought to help with service projects”  It has eight different activities planned for this Saturday.  They wanted students to register by yesterday but they won’t turn down help.  This list is only a few things that are going on this weekend in Southern Illinois.  There are always opportunities to help.

I’ve heard that April is Volunteer month.  Every month should be!

The march project is still going on. My mom and I made all kinds of forms to send out to the kids in my school. We sent them out today. We hope alot of kids will purchase pencils so that we can send alot of stuff to Afganistan! So keep donating!♥

Well…the March project is still going on.

For April, I want to add on something else.  This month, I am going to do at least 10 hours of clean-up service.  Earth Day is in April & I love to help clean up the Earth.  It is only a couple of hours a week & I know I’ll make a difference!

I hope everyone will spend a little extra time taking care of the Earth this month.  You could start recycling or you could take a walk & just pick up some trash along the road.  It can be fun!  Besides, no one wants to live in garbage.

It appears that another month has started without Molly revealing her next project.  Check back soon to learn what she is going to tackle next!
