Just a quick note to tell the results of September’s shoe box collection.

We dropped off 13 boxes. It was raining & we both had our hands really full. We took the boxes to Shoe Carnival because they have a collection box for the boxes.  The lady at the check out had a crazy look on her face when we walked in. She thought we were returning all of the shoes!

I was upset that we didn’t make the goal of 15 but then we each got a new pair of shoes.  When we got home, we realized that we have 6 more empty boxes to turn in. We are going to drop them off…hopefully on a sunny day.

I cannot believe that it is the middle of September and I haven’t posted my monthly project yet.  Forgive me!!

This month I am collecting shoe boxes for the local animal shelter.  They can use them for animals that are smaller.  I am picturing gerbils and kittens…stuff like that.  My goal is to get 15 this month.  I have started to ask family members if I can have theirs.  I hope that I make it.

Collecting shoe boxes is something that doesn’t cost a lot of money but can really help.  I am going to try to get our old towels to take when I go.  I’ll have to ask Mom first.

The garage sale went great!  I had business cards that looked awesome!  My mom made them.  If people made a purchase, I gave them a card.  There was a very generous donation made by my 1st grade teacher.  We came to a grand total of …

$81.50

Thank you to everyone who bought something or donated!  The money will go towards sending items to Afghanistan.

I also found something for another possible project.  I was able to talk to Pam at Second Nature Wildlife Rehabilitation Facility.  She takes care of baby animals like rabbits, squirrels, and raccoons.  She said that I could help feed or clean the cages.  It sounds really neat!  There sure are a lot of different ways to volunteer.
