December was the time of giving!
For Christmas, my family exchanged names. Instead of trading a list of things that we wanted, we traded a list of two charities. Each of us had a month to complete a project and then “give” a gift related to that project
I had my Aunt. Her two ideas that I had to pick from were hunger and literacy. Although I helped with her project and we collected over 650 canned food items, I failed to complete anything on my own….
I did turn in my donation for Pat’s Kids!!! I had collected a total of $225 dollars over the year. Bake sales, garage sales, and making bracelets really paid off. That with the $500 dollars I won earlier in the year was a great donation!
December did not plan out to be as “big” as I wanted it to be. It came way to fast and I just wasn’t ready. I hope that I am more prepared next year so that I can do more things to help out!
Hey Guys!!!!
First of all, the November project went awesome!!!! My aunt collected over 650 items. AWESOME!!!! My mom and I helped take the food items and deliver them to the Good Samaritan House.
Next, Pat Benton had his radio broadcast for Pat’s Kids. I wasn’t able to make it, but I WAS still able to donate $225 to the amazing charity. That is on top of the $500 dollars I won in the contest earlier this year.
Finally, to the December project. My aunts, mom, step dad, and I traded names for Christmas. But we aren’t trading gifts. We wrote down things that we thought needed to be helped or fixed such as hunger issues. I cannot explain fully what mine is, because then the person I received will know that I have them. I will explain more later! For now, we are all doing great work for charity. It feels great that I could inspire them all to help out.

May is almost over & so far I have heard from 2 local organizations. So…
a new page has been added!!
If you are looking for somewhere to volunteer, you are at the right place! The “Ways to Volunteer” page tells about other charities in Southern Illinois. Now, if you are bored and you are looking at my website, you can check that page out and maybe you will find something to cure your boredom!
May is here!
The month is off to a good start. We had a garage sale this weekend and I was able to raise $32 for Pat’s Kids. My aunt helped me make cookies & they were a big hit.
It is time for a new project. This month, I am collecting information on local charities. I am sending out letters to them. When I get the information, I will post it here on my site. You can see all of the ways that you can help! I am starting with Carbondale, Marion, and Herrin. There will be other towns but these are the ones that I want to start with. If you have any suggestions, let me know!
Keep up the good work!!
