The excitement one e-mail can bring...

Just wanted to write a short post about my exciting news today... I got my first reply from a soldier!!! It made my day. He was very appreciative and I am going to list a quote from his e-mail below...
I am currently in Korea and am very far from my family this Christmas so I am very blessed to know that there are people such as yourself that care enough to take time out of their busy schedule to send nice little reminders of home to us soldiers that cant be at home.
This totally proves the point that soldiers love to hear from home! If you're looking for some way to help out the troops this holiday season, or any other time throughout the year, look no further. Writing a letter or two is a great way to help, and it's cheap, too!

If you would like some help on doing a project similar, please feel free to contact me. I'd love to help as much as I can. Keep doing great things!

  • Wow. What a crazy whirlwind this week has been.

My mom, step dad, and I just finished the packages so that we can take them to the post office tomorrow morning. There has been such an outpouring of donations from people all over in the community and I am forever grateful for the support. Here is a list of all the people I would like to give a HUGE thank you to...

    Kathy DiDomizio
    Kristina DiDomizio
    Cris Myers
    Linda Gammon
  • Nikki Mcbrian
  • Lisa Pelczynski
    Tiffany Hassebrock
  • Rosalyn Hassebrock
    Suzanne Hunter
    Sydney Hunter
    Kelly Birkhead
    Tropicana Evansville
    Danny Knabe
    Madi Liggett
    Domonique Ryan
  • Nicole Setzekorn
  • Chad Setzekorn
  • Steve Harriss
  • Lori Harriss

Without all these people and more to support me, this project would not have been possible. Seeing all the items makes me so happy and I know it will make many soldiers happy, too. Now, I just wait to see when they make it to Korea and hope to get some e-mails back! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone, don't forget about those who aren't home during the holiday times so that we can be.

    Letters, letters, and more letters.

    Good evening!

I thought I would tell a little bit of information about the troop that the packages are being sent to. It is a group of soldiers stationed in South Korea. According to the private in charge of the donations, morale is very low because their mission was just extended even longer. I can't imagine what this feels like, especially so close to the holidays. More and more donations are coming in everyday and I couldn't be more excited to reward these people for their sacrifices!

Well, I've gotten all the stockings put together with help from my mom and Steve. Now, I have to write 50 letters to send to each of these deserving heroes! I will admit that I waited until the last minute to write them, but I am determined to get them done.

As I was writing letter number 42, (yes when you write that many letters in such a short amount of time you like to keep track... haha!), I was listening to Pandora on my iPod. I was super tired when the song "Letters from Home" came on. It was just what I needed to keep me going. It is very important for these letters to be included because soldiers love hearing from back home. If you haven't heard this song, please take a listen!

I have a roof over my head, food when I am hungry, and a family that supports me. What else could I ask for?
